In the spring of 2005, the Buckfield Rescue Unit, Inc. was dissolved as an Incorporation and became part of the municipality of Buckfield. The service still consists of dedicated on call employees and per-diem employees.
Buckfield Rescue's communities have been designated a Maine HeartSafe Community. HeartSafe Communities is a recognition program based on the "Chain of Survival", which has been implemented in other states and countries to help obtain this goal. Its purpose is to recognize the excellent work being done by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) programs throughout Maine, and to provide further opportunities to enhance community partnerships, resources and services to improve cardiovascular health, and decrease deaths due to cardiovascular-related events, including SCA, Heart Attack and Stroke.
The Department is always in need of interested people to join the organization in any capacity. If you are interested, please stop by the Fire-Rescue station or the Town Office for more information. You can also call the station by dialing (207) 336-2999.
