Town Policies

Town policies establish guidelines, procedures, and standards for the administration and operation of the Town of Buckfield. Policies are generally adopted by the Select Board and provide direction to Town officials, employees, boards, committees, volunteers, and the public regarding how specific municipal programs, services, and responsibilities are administered.

Policies are different from Town ordinances. Ordinances establish local laws and regulations and are generally adopted by the voters at Town Meeting or referendum. Policies provide administrative direction for how the Town conducts its operations and delivers municipal services.

Public Records and Policy Copies

Town policies are public records and may be reviewed online or requested from the Town Office. If you are unable to locate a policy, need an older version of a policy, or require a document in another format, please contact the Town Office.

Requests for additional municipal records may be submitted to the Town’s Public Access Officer in accordance with Maine’s Freedom of Access Act (FOAA).
